How to cancel Spotify Premium

Cancelling Spotify Premium moves your account back to the free tier at the end of the paid period. Your playlists, saved music and followers stay exactly as they are.

Premium plans renew monthly. Duo, Family and Student plans renew the same way, and only the plan owner can cancel.

Cancel on the Spotify website

  1. 1Go to spotify.com and log in, then open Account.
  2. 2Select Manage your plan (or Available plans).
  3. 3Scroll to Spotify Free and choose Cancel Premium.
  4. 4Follow the confirmation steps until the page confirms the end date.

If you subscribed through Apple or Google

  1. 1Open Settings then Subscriptions on iPhone, or Payments and subscriptions in the Google Play app.
  2. 2Cancel Spotify there — the Spotify website cannot stop that billing.

Family and Duo plans

  1. 1Only the plan manager can cancel the whole plan.
  2. 2Members can leave the plan from their own account settings instead.

Frequently asked questions

Do I lose my playlists?

No. Playlists, saved albums and followers remain on your account when you move to the free tier.

What happens to downloaded music?

Offline downloads stop working once Premium ends, because they require an active subscription.

How do I stop a free trial before it charges?

Cancel before the trial end date shown in your account. You keep Premium until that date, and no payment is taken.
